Saint Joseph School, a vibrant Preschool through Grade 8 Catholic school in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, seeks a passionate, innovative, and student-centered Middle School Mathematics and Science (STEM) Teacher to join our school community.

The successful candidate will teach mathematics and science to students in grades 6-8 while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and curiosity through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The teacher will integrate technology and STEM initiatives into instruction while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.

As a member of a small school community, the Middle School Mathematics and Science Teacher serves as an active participant in the life of the school and collaborates closely with faculty, families, and parish members to promote academic excellence and faith formation.

Responsibilities
● Teach middle school mathematics courses for grades 6-8, including Algebra readiness and Algebra I as assigned.
● Teach middle school science courses for grades 6-8, including life science, earth science, physical science, and STEM-based projects and activities.
● Design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and diocesan expectations.
● Integrate STEM principles, technology, engineering design, and project-based learning opportunities into classroom instruction.
● Utilize instructional technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
● Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
● Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records and grades.
● Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, and school administration regarding student progress and needs.
● Create and maintain a safe, positive, and faith-filled classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and academic growth.
● Serve as a middle school homeroom teacher and fulfill all associated homeroom responsibilities.
● Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities and school initiatives.
● Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
● Support and participate in school liturgies, prayer services, Catholic Schools Week activities, service projects, and other faith-based activities.
● Model Catholic values and support the mission and philosophy of Saint Joseph School.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field required.
● Experience teaching middle school mathematics and/or science preferred.
● Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into instruction.
● Strong classroom management and communication skills.
● Commitment to collaboration and professional growth.
● Ability to support and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education.
● Practicing Catholic preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
● Experience teaching Algebra I.
● Experience with STEM programming, robotics, coding, engineering design, or project-based learning.
● Familiarity with educational technology platforms and digital learning tools.
● Experience in a small school environment or multi-grade teaching setting.
