Commuter Students

As a Commuter student at Emmanuel College we understand that you may face unique challenges, different from Resident students.

We have collaborated with the Office of Student Involvement to create resources to help you navigate and take advantage of your time at Emmanuel.

The McCafferty Career Center can help you with:

  • Virtual or in-person Career Advising
  • Interview Prep and Interview Spaces
  • Funding Programs for Internships
  • Finding on or off campus jobs
  • Volunteer Work
  • Networking and events
  • Resume and Cover Letter
  • Searching and applying

As a commuter student we encourage you to take advantage of all of the resources on campus, join a club, find work on campus, and attend events to connect with peers, staff and faculty and begin to build your resume.

Each semester we invite recruiters from great companies and organizations in and around Boston to attend our Industry Recruitment Series.

Each Industry Recruitment Series is curated as a boutique event for your specific industry and career community.

Here you will be able to speak with employers about available job and internship opportunities.

Please visit the Commuter Experience page to learn about The Commuter Lounge as well as info on facilities, MBTA discounts, parking/shuttles, lockers, study spaces, gym access, dining and more!

Taking public transportation?

Save money by purchasing a semester T-pass through The Office of Student Involvement.

  • You can get an 11% discount on a 5-month Fall semester pass or a 4-month Spring semester pass!
  • You can also use your travel time to listen to podcasts, read, study, get work done, meditate or relax before your day begins
  • Reserve a commuter locker to store books & supplies through the Office of Student Involvement (first come, first serve)

Get Involved!

  • Get to know your peers by attending or inviting them to an event, study group or club meeting
  • It helps to become friends with residents, they may invite you as a guest if weather is bad or you’re working late on an assignment
  • Having friends who live on campus may interest you in living on campus eventually

Plan your day

  • Bring meals or snacks from home to save money
  • Plan your schedule strategically to save gas and limit the time or days you’re on campus
  • Create a schedule to manage your time for classes, work, clubs/sports or anything else you may need to include, it’s helpful to see it!
  • Always check your emails before class! You do not want to drive all the way to campus to find out your class was cancelled
  • Take advantage of all the free resources available to you on & around campus (Check out Colleges of the Fenway)
  • Utilize the time you have between classes to get other work done, hang out with friends on campus, and grab some food or study

Parking on campus?

  • Keep a few extra supplies in your car, you never know when you might need to stay on campus or in the city
  • Make sure you’re parking in appropriate places so you don’t get ticketed or towed

Most importantly, look out for Commuter clubs, events, giveaways and a commuter lounge on campus
