Meet the Fall 2024 Recipients

Lillian Bittman

International Studies, ’26, Hospitality Homes

Business, Office Management & International Outreach Support Intern

“I learned so much about myself through this experience and I’m going to move forward knowing what I liked and disliked to determine the career path I want to pursue post graduation. I enjoyed the non-profit organization environment, but I am excited to try a different experience to compare and contrast.

I gained many skills that will easily be applicable to any job I have in the future. I polished my research skills learned about the intricacies of the operation of a non-profit. I could not have asked for a better experience and I am so grateful for the stipend that made it possible for me without worrying about finances.”

Amy Lopez Esteban

Biology, ’25, Grow Clinic at Boston Medical Center

BMC Grow Clinic Student Assistant

“The knowledge that I gained through this experience will allow me to be able to move forward in my career development as I have now solidified my interest in the field of pediatrics, with a focus on nutritional development. I learned how important the services that are provided are to our patients and how impactful they are.

Before this internship, I had no true exposure to talking with patients directly which pushed me to learn how to do so this semester. I was also able to practice my bilingual skills since some of the patients were Spanish speaking only. I am a student who intends to use their degree to give back to my community by focusing on those that are underserved and are part of minorities and this internship was a direct example of that vision.”

Hunter Murray

Communication + Media Studies, ’25, Simmons University

Athletics Communication Intern

“I want to work in sports, as I have always been a massive sports fan. This internship allowed me to get a feel of the industry as well as actual experience covering games and recapping them on their athletics website. Because of the stipend, I was able to put my full focus on my internship and build a great foundation of journalism and communication through the athletics department at Simmons

I learned what it takes to work in an athletics department and what the day to day responsibilities can be. During this internship I was able to improve my writing skills, which will hopefully lead me to a career in sports journalism. I feel like I’ve made some great connections that will lead to a successful career after graduation.”

Abigail Mullins

History, ’25, Paul Revere House

Paul Revere House Intern

“I had been considering a job in the museum field and this internship provided me experience working in a small house museum. Working as an intern at the Paul Revere House has allowed me to gain both public speaking and research skills. This has enabled me to learn about the roles and responsibilities involved in running a small house museum and the career paths that lead to those roles.

The research and presentation skills I have developed as well as the experience I have gained through interning at the Paul Revere House has prepared me for graduate school and careers in museum work beyond completing my undergraduate degree. I am extremely grateful for this stipend and the opportunities it has provided me, and it has allowed me to focus wholeheartedly on my internship experience without added tensions resulting from finances.”

Laura Sanchez

Psychology, ’25, WATCH CDC

Adult Education ESOL Teaching Intern

“All of my college experience has been based at Emmanuel, so being able to step out into the real world and gain experience with such a wide community lead me closer to becoming who I want to be as I grow in my professional career.

This experience has helped me with my communication and presentation skills. I tend to be very fast-paced, but this internship has made me more patient and allowed me to communicate with students and go at their own pace. In the future, this will reflect in my communication skills and my ability to present content clearly.”
