McCafferty Internship Stipend

$1000 Stipend for unpaid internships

The McCafferty Internship Stipend will award approximately five $1,000 stipends to students participating in unpaid internships at off-campus organizations during the fall and spring semesters.

Students must meet the following criteria to apply for an McCafferty Internship Stipend:

  • Current student in good academic standing with a minimum of 32 credits completed at Emmanuel College.
  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • Be enrolled in an internship course as part of a department/college internship requirement.
  • Student must begin internship by the second week of classes. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.
  • Student may not have received an McCafferty Internship Stipend in the past.
  • Education students are not eligible to apply due to DESE licensing regulations.

  • Practicum sites are not eligible due to DESE licensing regulations.
  • A professional staff member from the internship site must be assigned to supervise the intern and complete an evaluation on the student’s performance at the end of the term.

  • Applications for a McCafferty Internship Stipend must be completed by the academic course add deadline.
  • Students must have an internship offer at the time of the application and the Internship Form in HireSaints must also be completed by the time the application is submitted.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the McCafferty Stipend Committee and winners will be announced during the first week of October for the fall semester and the first week of February for the spring semester.

The Fall 2026 Application is due on 9/16.

Q: How competitive is this stipend?
A: Very. The Selection Committee generally receives 30-50 applications per cycle.

Q: Do I need to have an internship when I apply for the stipend?
A: Yes. Please submit your Internship Form in HireSaints to confirm your internship (See Application Process section above).

Q: What factors do you consider when reviewing applications.
A: The Selection Committee considers all aspects of a students application including financial need, internship site location, quality of application, and leadership on-campus. The Committee is comprised of staff from Academic Affairs, Career Center, Sister Dorothy Stang Center for Community Engagement, and Student Financial Services)

Q: Is the stipend available in the summer?
A: No. This stipend is not available during the summer term.
