Senator Markey’s Boston office is currently accepting applications for communications interns for Spring 2026. Applications are due by Sunday, November 16, 2025, 11:59 EST.

Spring session: January 20, 2026, to May 4, 2026
Qualifications: The Boston internship program best suited for current and recent undergraduate students. All applicants must be proactive hard-workers who have demonstrated interest in press and/or digital media—with excellent writing, editing, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Digital skills (i.e. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Canva, video editing, social media, etc.) are a plus. Backgrounds in political science, journalism, communications, film, graphic design, media studies, and liberal arts are desirable but not required.
Commitment & Credit: Internship opportunities are available on a part-time basis. School credit is possible for all internships if arranged and approved by the intern’s respective college or university. Candidates may also apply for stipends, details listed below.
All interns are required to commit to working a minimum of 10 hours a week.
Responsibilities Include:
· Compiling daily press clips
· Maintaining and updating press lists
· Monitoring national, state, and local media
· Drafting and editing written materials, including press releases, op-eds, newsletters, and social copy
· Creating engaging social media content, graphics, and videos for the digital team
· Supporting the communications team with press conferences and live events
In addition to the responsibilities above, communications interns may be tasked with:
· Corresponding with and serving Massachusetts constituents, such as answering phones, and organizing incoming messages
· Assisting with other administrative and legislative projects as necessary
