NDMV National Position Description  – 2025-2026

Position Title – Education & Outreach Assistant

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers Program – Notre Dame Mission Volunteers – National

Purpose

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers develops leaders through education and compassionate service, sparking confidence to learn and agency to transform communities.

During the service year, NDMV Members will serve at a Partnering Site where they will receive hands-on training and development and provide educational support that teaches communities what they need to know for life.

NDMV Members will be accompanied throughout their service year by NDMV Staff who will provide individual and group personal and professional development opportunities including Bi-Weekly Member Meetings, Service Projects, and  Retreats where Members can reflect, learn, and grow together on their service journey.

Expected Weekly Schedule

Partnering Site

  • Monday – Friday; 8:30am-3:30pm w/ occasional weekend
    • Can be flexible with hours

NDMV

  • Friday Member Meetings (Bi-Weekly) 10AM-1PM EST
  • Service Projects: 9/11, Dorothy Stang, Cesar Chavez, Earth Day
  • NDMV Retreats (November and April)
  • Regular check ins with NDMV Site Manager

Expected Weekly Hours at Service Site – 35

Duties & Responsibilities

NDMV

●       Complete the NDMV Member Orientation prior to serving at Partnering Site and attend the NDMV End of Year Celebration

●       Attend and participate in Bi-Weekly Member Meetings (virtually), NDMV Retreats (in-person), Service Projects, and other NDMV sponsored events and activities

●       Meet regularly with NDMV Site Manager for accompaniment and reflection

●       Foster a sense of community that includes accompaniment, reflection, and personal and professional growth with NDMV community throughout the service year

●       Share and gather resources to support NDMV community, Partnering Site and personal/professional goals

●       Submit timesheets on a semi-monthly basis

●       Complete NDMV Reports and support the collection of performance measurements and other data

Partnering Site

●       Maintain and update organization’s social media calendar

●       Collaborate with Development Manager on new communications strategies to engage donors

●       Contribute content and design to posts, e-news, press releases, and infographics

●       Assist in design and production of fundraising materials.

●       Provide photography support, if interested.

●       Support planning and execution of special events.

●       Assist in instruction and support of adult (16+) students both individually and in small groups

●       Assist with goal setting, resume writing, computer skills, online college, job training, and employment search

Minimum Qualifications

NDMV Qualifications

●       Over 18 years old

●       Has a High School diploma/GED

●       Is eligible to work in the US

●       Completed and cleared a criminal history background check

●       Commitment to completing the full service term

 

Service Site Qualifications (if applicable)

●       Positive attitude, mature, responsible

●       Ability to work well in a community-based program with a diverse population

●       Strong writing, editing, and communication skills

●       Interest in nonprofit fundraising, communications, and social media

●       Basic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar) are a plus
