Seeking interns that can intern a minimum of 8 hours a week within at least 2 hour increments between Mondays through Fridays anytime between 9am and 5pm. Examples: Two 4 hour days or four 2 hour days.
Program/Department Overview:
Bridges to College & Careers (BTCC) is a 23-week college preparation program that runs two semesters a year. BTCC assists students to improve their English and math skills in addition to providing career and college readiness coaching classes. Our program is designed to ensure students bypass developmental courses and qualify to enroll in college credit bearing classes while ensuring students develop the skills necessary to succeed in college. In partnership with Quincy College, our students engage in the pathway of Biotechnology. Upon graduation, our career coaches work closely with students and employers to help graduates acquire an industry-specific job.
Internship Responsibilities:
The Education Administrative Assistant intern will work with current BTCC students and job-seeking alumni. Responsibilities include:
- Assist current students to research and identify scholarships on the Internet, filling out applications, practicing scholarship interviews, and teaching students the step-by-step process required to apply for scholarships and help fund their college education.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally as to existing systems and programs to support clients with childcare, housing, transportation, financial relief, and employment opportunities to increase participation in program
- Assist clients with digital literacy, including basic computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite to succeed in a hybrid learning environment utilizing the tutorials in the Career Resource room.
- Research job postings and potential employers to hire program alumni.
- Assist program alumni in resume reviews, interview preparation, and job applications.
- Connect clients to agency monthly calendar to attend workshops specifically in navigating job searching opportunities, interviewing and resume writing. They will also explore social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
