Program/Department Overview:
The CareerPath Programming department at JVS assists clients in shelters and/or those receiving housing or utility assistance from our partner agencies to find employment, as well as access education and/or job training through free, one-on-one coaching.
Internship Responsibilities:
The intern will assist clients with case management and employment to help remove barriers to employment, training and/or education.
- Work with assigned clients and learn about their specific educational, training or job preferences to research and share relevant resources with the clients and/or staff
- Organize, manage, and share helpful resources (i.e. childcare and housing)
- Collaborate with JVS staff and interns on special projects
- Research and share potential employer partners and job leads – generate lists of employers for Career Navigators to call
- Assist clients with case management tasks (i.e. unemployment benefits, childcare, housing, etc)
- Conduct job search activities with clients (i.e. resume modifications, online job applications, uploading resumes, interview prep, job leads, cover letter, etc).
- Correspond with clients as needed through phone, email or text message
- Conduct initial screening calls to clients
- Make referrals to other departments as needed
- Assist with other tasks as needed

Skills/Qualifications:
- Personable and patient
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be willing/able to work individually and as part of a team and take initiative to support all team members
- Good Microsoft Office, Google Docs, internet and data entry skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is a plus, but not mandatory
