Title: Senior Summer Program Assistant

 

Position Type: Part-time: Student Employment, Summer/Short Term

 

Hours/Week: Minimum of 14 hours per week. Hours are not to exceed 40 hours per week.

 

Compensation: 17.00 per hour for a minimum of 14 hours per week and a room within one of the College’s traditional residence halls is provided at no charge in exchange for participation in the On-Call rotation. No meal plan is provided. (Residence Life & Housing reserves the right to move HAs to interim assignments before moving into permanent summer and fall assignments for cleaning and facilities purposes.)

 

Dates of Employment: Tuesday May 9, 2025 – Saturday, August 19, 2025      

 

Job Description

The Summer Conference and Housing Program at Emmanuel College provides, event, dining, and housing services to guests each summer.  To support this program, Summer Conferences & Housing is seeking current Emmanuel students to serve as Summer Conference Assistants to support the College’s growing conference and intern housing program as well as internal events such as Alumni Weekend and Orientation. Major areas of responsibility emphasized are customer service, administration, conference preparation, and safety. 

 

Successful candidates for the position must: 

·       Have a working knowledge of all aspects of Emmanuel College to appropriately assist, advise, and serve as a liaison between students, guests and other members of the Emmanuel College community. 

·       Possess the capacity to be sensitive and concerned for others as individuals. This entails a strong personal and professional commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and diverse community.

·       Abide by all college policies and regulations. 

·       Demonstrate a willingness to accept supervision, ability to follow directions and capability to work under pressure

·       Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

·       Be committed to successful teamwork with the entire Summer Conference Assistant staff.

·       Have the ability to maintain the privacy of guests

 

General Responsibilities:

 

·       Attend staff training prior to the start of the summer

·       Attend all staff meetings as scheduled by the supervisor

·       Staff front desk shifts at summer conference & housing residence halls, answering phone calls and questions, troubleshooting guest issues, and providing directions provide high quality customer service to Emmanuel summer guests.  Duties may include (but are not limited to) troubleshooting guest issues, answering phone calls and questions, providing directions, k, check-ins, check-outs and lockouts, room inspections and turnover, overnight linen management

·       Assist with preparation of check-in & check-out materials

·       Assist with the check-in and check-out of summer guests

·       Submit work order requests as needed

·       Prepare guest rooms as needed by making beds or distributing linen depending on group needs

·       Conduct room inspections prior to guest arrival to ensure quality

·       Participate in a nightly on-call duty rotation

·       Assist with preparation for fall academic year housing as needed

·       Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

·       2.5 cumulative grade point average.

·       Clear discipline record, i.e., must not be on disciplinary probation or issued a formal written warning at the time of hire and must maintain this status throughout the employment period.

·       Actively enrolled at Emmanuel College.  May 2023 graduating students are not eligible to apply.

 

Terms of Employment:

·       Applicants are required to work some early mornings, some evenings, and on weekends. The position of Summer Conference Assistant takes first priority over other time commitments.

·       May enroll in a maximum of one summer session course each semester.

·       All Summer Conference Assistants must live on campus during the dates of their contract. Involvement in any other employment is not permitted without approval of the supervisor

·       All significant time commitments (including vacation time spent off campus) require the prior approval of the supervisor. 

·       An individual may be terminated from the Summer Conference Assistant position for failing to meet the expectations of the position as described below or if his/her actions conflict with the policies of the Summer Conference Assistant Staff and/or Emmanuel College.
