Lab Instructional Assistants play a crucial role in lab preparation, lab operation, and in student education and are a major asset to the lab instructor. It is also hoped that lab assistants will solidify their understanding of Neuroscience, hone their lab skills, and gain some experience as an aid to their peers. Lab assistants are paid to work based on the number of hours logged in the teaching lab each week, which includes time spent preparing before and cleaning up after the lab period. Experimental Neuroscience is a combined lecture/lab course that meets 2x per week for 5 hrs and 20 min each week.
Lab Instructional Assistant Job Responsibilities:
Helping to engage students in the lab course curriculum and guide them in laboratory techniques.
Provide Assistance to instructor in demonstrating lab techniques and concepts.
Assist the lab managers in the preparation of lab materials.
Ensure lab materials are being handled and stored properly.
Watch for and notify the instructor of any issues in laboratory safety.
All Laboratory Instructional Assistants Must Meet the following qualifications in order to apply:
An Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
At least a B earned in Experimental Neuroscience.
For the Spring Semester we are seeking students for the following section:
Experimental Neuroscience (combined lab/lecture) Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00am – 12:40pm
