Department Hours of Operation:  8:30am-4:30pm

Minimum Hours Required Per Shift: 2

Pay: $15

Start Date:  September 8th, 2025 (Subject to Change)

End Date: December 15th, 2025 (Subject to Change)

Career preparation is an integral aspect of the undergraduate experience at Emmanuel. Our Career Center supports and guides students in realizing their career aspirations while educating and empowering them to take an active role in their professional development.

About the Position:
The Office Assistant in the Career Center will be responsible for various administrative tasks and front desk customer service. The Career Center is looking for a student who will represent the Career Center in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Answer office phone calls
  • Welcome and assist all visitors
  • Check-in appointments for all in-person meetings
  • Navigate and assist students, faculty, and employers with our career management system, HireSaints and Career hub, CareerConnect. Examples include but are not limited to troubleshooting login issues to assisting an employer with a job posting
  • In addition to daily responsibilities, special projects will be assigned based on need.  These projects could include: designing event flyers, event wrap-up documents, and assisting with event preparation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred, but not required.

Students in the Office Assistant 1 position will develop skills in the following:

  • The individual in this role will be a self-motivator and able to take initiative and responsibility for their own work.

Communication

  • Through welcoming and assisting visitors, answering phone calls, and providing support to students, faculty, and employers verbal communication skills will be improved. Various projects such as designing event flyers and wrap-up documents will increase written communication skills.

Critical Thinking

  • The individual in this role will problem-solve by troubleshooting login issues and other technical difficulties with HireSaints and CareerConnect. The handling of appointments and administrative tasks will increase attention to detail skills.

Teamwork

  • Office Assistants will collaborate within the Career Center team

Technology

  • Students will navigate and assisting with career management systems (HireSaints and CareerConnect) and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Professionalism

  • Students will always represent the Career Center in a professional manner.

  • Students will welcome and assist a diverse range of visitors, including students, faculty, and employers, while fostering an inclusive environment.

Leadership

  • Taking on special projects and assisting with event preparation can develop leadership skills.
