About the Position:
The Emmanuel College Career Center is seeking candidates for the position of Career Peer. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Career Education, the Career Peer will provide individual and/or group counseling through appointments and walk-ins to current students. Career Peers will be trained and are expected to stay up-to-date with best practices and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Career Education on growing outreach to students across campus.
Applicants are required to have completed the INT1001 course
Responsibilities Include:
- Advise students on finding on- and off-campus jobs, resume and cover letter writing, career path exploration, and interview prep
- Assist students with navigating HireSaints, CareerConnect, job boards, LinkedIn, and more
- Represent the Career Center at on-campus events as assigned (this may be student-only events or Admissions events with families)
- Present on career topics for clubs/organizations
- Assist with INT1001 including prep work before course, assisting with grading, and clarifying assignments/lessons in meetings
- Assist with the creation of new career content (documents, videos, and more) to ensure access to key information for all students
- Respond and monitor the Career Center email and phone
- Other duties as needed

- The individual in this role will be a self-motivator and able to take initiative and responsibility for their own work.

- Through welcoming and assisting visitors, answering phone calls, and providing support to students, faculty, and employers verbal communication skills will be improved. Various projects such as designing event flyers and wrap-up documents will increase written communication skills.
Critical Thinking
- The individual in this role will problem-solve by troubleshooting login issues and other technical difficulties with HireSaints and CareerConnect. The handling of appointments and administrative tasks will increase attention to detail skills.
Teamwork
- Career Peers will collaborate within the Career Center team
Technology
- Students will navigate and assisting with career management systems (HireSaints and CareerConnect) and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Professionalism
- Students will always represent the Career Center in a professional manner.
