Job Title: Cafe Server
Job Summary: The primary purpose of this job position is to create an enjoyable dining experience for the residents, staff and visitors in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Head Cook, Team Leader, and/or Director of Dining Service, to assure that quality service is provided at all times.

Essential Job Duties
- Ensures the dining experience is enjoyable through cheerful behavior and carefully following established procedures for merchandising, plate presentation and service.
- Serves hot foods to residents, staff and visitors.
- Makes all beverages for self-service and constantly monitors area for cleanliness.
- Keeps counters clean and organized, not allowing clutter behind the serving line.
- Rotates and stocks the residents’ refrigerator.
- Stocks and resets the cafeteria throughout the shift and at the end of the day.
- Properly maintains required records and receipts.
- Handles cash and charge receipts following established procedures.
- Wipes tables, chairs and benches after they have been used and resets tables.
- Empties all trash containers.
- Resets tables with linen at the end of the shift.
- Does scheduled cleaning of table condiments, coffee machine, sandwich refrigerator, fryer, and microwave.
- Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with evacuations of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency.
- Promotes a clean, safe and neat environment for residents, staff and self.
- Cooperates with the staff of other departments in performing job duties.
Physical Requirements
Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age. Must be capable of prolonged standing and walking continuously for the entire shift except for break periods. Must be capable of frequent stooping and bending and be able to lift items weighing up to fifteen pounds. Sight and hearing or the use of prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately is required for safety and communications. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate the cash register, toaster and fire extinguisher.
Personal Requirements
Must be able to add and subtract and use a cash register and have good communications skills. The ability to get along with others, to be flexible, patient, and able to work as a member of a team. Good personal hygiene habits are required to comply with Department of Health practices and regulations. Must maintain uniforms in a clean and neat condition.
Education High School education or equivalent preferred.
Experience Prior server training or experience is helpful, but not required.
