Translation and Interpretation Internship
*ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS ON A ROLLING BASIS*
The Translation and Interpretation intern will assist the Community Engagement Coordinator and the Development and Communications Assistant in translating CfJJ’s marketing, advocacy and training materials. The intern’s primary role will be assisting in creating and translating social media posts, promoting CfJJ events, and expanding CfJJ’s reach and accessibility to youth organizers, parent organizers, community-based and grassroots organizations and others who are passionate about youth justice reform.
EXAMPLES OF INTERNSHIP TASKS:

Translating training materials that CfJJ used to educate the public on youth justice issues and marketing materials (event flyers) and information used for social media posts.

Assisting staff members in ensuring video conference translation applications are accurate and accessible.

Assisting CfJJ leadership and staff in creating safe and welcoming spaces for all of our partners and non-native speaking communities.

Ensuring that CfJJ translated materials convey their original meaning and tone while meeting the needs of non-native speaking communities.
ANTICIPATED SKILL SETS:

Fluency in conversational and formal Spanish or other languages.

Strong writing, oral, and relationship-building skills.

Knowledge of youth justice specific language and terminology.

Desire to learn more about the juvenile justice system.
