Basketball Operations Manager

Position Summary
The Basketball Operations Manager plays a central role in designing, managing, and strengthening the 3Point Foundation’s school-day, after-school, weekend and summer basketball programming. This leader will bring staff together around a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, values-driven basketball experiences for young people across Boston.

3Point is seeking an innovative and collaborative builder who can lead basketball programming in a small, grassroots nonprofit environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, solutions-oriented, and able to navigate the dynamic and fast-paced context of Boston Public Schools.

This mission-driven leader will oversee curriculum development, program logistics, staff support, coaching oversight, and partnership management—ensuring that basketball programming consistently advances 3Point’s educational, social-emotional, and wellness goals.

General Objectives of this Role
● Program Quality: Design, implement, and refine high-quality basketball curricula for after school, weekend and summer programs aligned with The3PointFoundation’s educational and life skills goals.
● Operational Management: Efficiently manage all daily basketball recruitment, logistics and operations across after-school, weekend and summer sites in partnership with the Program Director.
● Staff & Partnership Support: Support, manage, and occasionally coach program staff in basketball; maintain strong, collaborative relationships with schools and community partners in partnership with the Program Director.
● Mission Fulfillment: Ensure all basketball activities successfully inspire learning, build life skills, and promote wellness for Boston youth.

Basketball Operations Responsibilities
● Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of 3Point’s basketball programming across partner schools, weekend and summer programming.
● Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with schools, community centers, and key stakeholders within the Boston Public Schools (BPS) district as well as entities outside of BPS.
● Assist in hiring and lead key areas of staff development, including training, supervision, and performance support, to ensure strong and consistent program delivery.
● Collaborate in the development, refinement, and implementation of the basketball curriculum, ensuring strong alignment with 3Point’s educational goals and program model.
● Lead and coordinate competitions at multiple locations across the city, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to schedules.
● Manage and maintain supplies, including organizing, distributing, and restocking equipment as needed.
● Establish annual program goals and performance objectives such as using the PACER, and monitor progress throughout the year.
● Oversee administrative functions related to basketball operations, including scheduling, communication, and program documentation.
● Work with the Program Director to assign basketball coaches to school sites based on program needs, staffing levels, and skill sets.
● Ensure full compliance with 3Point Foundation policies, procedures, and safety standards across all program locations.
● Manage and monitor the basketball operations budget, ensuring responsible and strategic use of resources.
● Serve as a coach when needed, depending on program schedules and staffing demands.
● Perform additional duties as required to support the success and growth of 3Point’s basketball programming.

Coach Responsibilities
● Prepare basketball lessons, assignments, and enrichment activities ( planning outside of regular program hours is required).
● Work with staff to be prepared for each class by carefully reviewing the curriculum and creating classroom materials to support the students’ learning.
● Differentiate instruction so that all students can be success
● Establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected while overseeing classroom management, including enforcing the school’s discipline code. ● Ensure the team has the needed materials and supplies. Including making sure the supplies are readily available and properly stored after each session.. ● Keep appropriate records, files and documentation to facilitate effective program delivery, including rosters, attendance records, and summaries of questions and/or reflections on what students learned.

Qualifications
● At least 3-5 years of experience working to develop and implement youth-oriented programming for nonprofits, preferably in partnership with local schools
● Demonstrated competency working with families of different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
● Experience in self-management and supervision of others while working on a team
● Strong verbal and written communication skills, additional language a plus
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
● Experience working with youth preferably in an educational position or athletic programs.
● Excellent judgment, time management, and organizational skills
● Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively as needed
● Ability to give and receive direct and constructive feedback
● Passion for working with young people
● Proficiency with online systems: Google Workspace, School Mint
● Ability to be on-site at schools when needed
● Valid driver’s license and access to a car
● Multilingual a plus
● Weekend commitments are necessary to this role, ideal schedule would be Wednesday-Sunday schedule

Compensation

This is a part-time position with a pay range of $30-$40 per hour, up to 25 hours per week. Please inquire if you are interested in full-time.
