Industry Recruitment Series: Community & Social Impact Organizations Recap
On Tuesday, April 9th the McCafferty Career Center hosted their fourth and final Industry Recruitment Series of the semester: Community & Social Impact Organizations!
Differing from your typical career fair set up– a lot of long tables stacked on top of eachother, quick meet & greets– our events are organized as rotating round table conversations. Students who attend our Industry Recruitment Series are able to meet 1-on-1 or in small groups with recruiters from companies within their career paths. The speed-networking environment allows for professional, yet laid-back conversations about the companies themselves and their application & hiring proccesses.
At our Community & Social Impact Organizations event, we had 15 different employers attend, our highest attendance this year! Some of these companies included 826 Boston, Boch Center & Central Boston Elder Services. In total, all employers who attended were recruiting for over 100 different positions with a focus in community and non-profit.
One student said they enjoyed learning about the desirable qualities and skills in candidates, and discovered that many organizations look for Spanish speakers. They said because of this, they plan to enroll in a Spanish for healthcare class. Employers repeatedly report that they love the format and organization of the industry specific events. Always great conversations with our students!
